One in 300 million

It's been estimated that Hatfield Forest is home to around 300 million buttercups at this time of year. I recently shared some photos of the great swathe of gold they create but I thought it was time I took a more intimate approach. With such enormous numbers of flowers I took the liberty of picking just one to bring home with me this afternoon so I could take its photo at close quarters - I dare say the visitors probably won't miss this one little gem among so many millions!

Certainly the best look at a buttercup I can recall.
