Pulling out all the stops

I had my event photographer hat on this afternoon as I took photos of the Old Stortfordians' carol service at Bishop's Stortford College. My brief was to capture the musicians in action, along with some wider shots of the congregation too. However, my favourite image from the afternoon was this close up of Owen Crawford, the organist, as he accompanied the carols. I like the way his face is illuminated by the close circuit TV screen (which enables him to keep an eye on the conductor) that sits just above the organ manuals. In days of old a mirror would have done the same job as the CCTV but I can't help feeling it wouldn't have created such atmospheric illumination.

How I would have loved to have heard the music as well.

I have only seen it done with a mirror. Great shot indeed.

I absolutely love this! My dad was an organist and this brings back fond memories of him and the wonderful Christmas programs he arranged and put on with the school choir. Thanks for that!
