Face to face

During a visit to the small Hertfordshire village of Aston to visit a possible rehearsal venue this afternoon I stopped off at the church to take a look around. Sadly it was locked but I took a stroll around the churchyard and these faces, either side of the west door, caught my eye. The church itself is several hundred years old but these very crisp carvings are evidently rather newer. I'll be back in the area several times later in the year so perhaps I may get to see inside the church at some point and learn more about these fresh faces.

Thought that keeps coming into my head is the stoicism. Completely void of emotion. If I was king I would be grinning.
