Pistons in the park

Twice a year Thremhall Park, a business venue near here, hosts a gathering for car enthusiasts, called ‘Pistons in the park’. It seemed the perfect first public outing for Morris the Mini (as Kevin has christened his ‘new’ 1966 mark 1 Mini) so we popped along this morning and found a wonderfully eclectic collection of cars, from chrome-encrusted American pickup trucks to modern Ferraris and Aston Martins. I enjoyed finding interesting details to photograph and even made a new canine friend or two!

What photographer could resist this combination of chrome and rust?!

I liked the reflected clouds and blue sky when I took this one but decided I prefer it in monochrome once I got it onto my computer

Morris, rather dwarfed beside an Chrysler pickup truck!

This is Daisy, an adorable seven month old dachshund I met this morning - she was interested in absolutely everything that was going on! It wasn't in my mind when I took this photo but when I got it home and onto my computer it reminded me of one of Elliott Erwitt's iconic dog photos, called Felix, Gladys and Rover [kunstmeranoarte.org], which I read about recently. Perhaps this was somewhere in my subconscious as I photographed Daisy!
