Harrogate characters

Each year one of the highlights of the Bishop's Stortford Camera Club calendar is our weekend away. This year we're visiting Yorkshire and our first port of call was a day out in Harrogate. Brian, our club chairman, gave us a challenge to shoot some street photography so I spent some time looking for interesting characters and what they were up to.

This young chap was showing off some great drumming skills. It took several attempts to catch him with his drumstick in mid-air!

Sand sculpting in the streets of Harrogate

A group of teenagers were loitering under this gazebo and one of them had abandoned his bike here, creating some great shadows when the sun finally came out.

Very good. I especially like the last one - there's something stark about the abandoned bike.

Love this set. I would love to do more street photography. Do you ask permission to photograph these folks or just go for it and hope no one objects? That last shot is definitely a keeper!

Very nice! I like the sand sculpting....I've never seen such a thing before not on the beach.
