The weather forecast for this weekend is looking decidedly changeable so it's anyone's guess whether the day we've picked to attend the Duxford autumn airshow will actually be sunny. With this in mind I headed up to Duxford after work this afternoon to see what was flying in and out in preparation for the show. As I arrived the sun was shining, but it rapidly hid behind a thick bank of stormy looking clouds, making any meaningful photography somewhat challenging. However, a few aircraft flew in, with the lighter ones taking a rather unorthodox path to the landing strip because of the direction of the strong winds. Later in the afternoon I got chatting to some fellow photographers and we were just considering abandoning things when a pair of Spitfires appeared on the horizon. They were kind enough to give us a speedy fly-by before landing - a very welcome reward for sticking it out until the rain finally arrived!
