Frost and fog, a magical combination

by Helen Hooker December. 28, 2016 1795 views

We seem to have had more than our fair share of fog this winter and today it was accompanied by a thick frost.  The temptation was to stay in bed for as long as possible before going to work but I knew there would be some photogenic scenes awaiting me so I got up early and put on lots of layers of clothing.  Sure enough, Hatfield Forest was shrouded in mist and coated in a layer of hoar frost.  I had about fifteen minutes to find a photo during my drive through the forest to work so I worked quickly, looking for the best views.  The weak sun attempted to burn through the mist as I took my photos, although sadly it warmed only the colour temperature and my car's thermometer stayed stubbornly below freezing!

Thank you Amy! I have a soft spot for that tree and have photographed it a number of times - it's such an interesting shape.

I particularly like the third of the pictures just as the sun was about to break through the mist.
