Over the last few days the Red Poll cattle have gradually returned to Hatfield Forest. During the winter I've missed their regular visits to my little kiosk so I've been looking forward to photographing them again. Predictably, they stayed away for both of my shifts this week so I took matters into my own hands this evening and went to look for them after work. It didn't take me long, and I found one of the herds wandering around on Takeley Hill. The young calves are at a stage where they're incredibly inquisitive about everything and I found myself being stalked by one for a little while, as it tried to get a closer look at me. However, it was this youngster that really caught my eye, sitting quietly among the buttercups. It seemed relaxed enough as I edged closer and I used the articulated screen on my camera to allow me to get down low and capture a worm's eye view of this little cutie.
