Edging ever closer....

It's a little under a month since our last visit to see Morris in Wiltshire but there had been significant progress when we arrived this morning.  The whole of the shell is now coated in a shiny layer of 'Maroon B' paint and, even before John does the final polish, it's a huge improvement on the original finish.

Morris was up on the ramp when we arrived. Kevin and John are discussing the finer points of Mini engineering here

I'll probably never get to photograph the underside of a Mini quite like this again!

We saw lots of other bits and pieces, which John has cleaned down and painted, ready for reassembly, including Morris's restored engine.  It'll probably be another month or so before everything is put back together but, needless to say, Kevin is champing at the bit to take him for a long drive in the sunshine!

A whole 848cc of Mini engine - we'll have no less than 34 horsepower once it's fitted again!

Part of the front suspension - all cleaned up and painted, ready for fitting

If you'd like to follow Morris's progress through his restoration you can see all of my posts about him here.

The tiny 10 inch wheels have been refurbished and are waiting to be reunited with their shiny hub caps

The re-chromed hub caps are looking magnificent!
