Why did the peacock cross the road?

Anyone who visits Stansted Mountfitchet with any regularity will be familiar with the local peacocks. These beautiful birds live at the medieval castle and have the run of the village, frequently causing all manner of chaos as they spontaneously cross the road without looking first. Early this morning I stopped off at the village shop to buy my lunch and found this bird (a peahen I presume as it doesn't have a magnificent tail) peering in the window. I can only assume it was either doing some window shopping or planning a smash and grab raid for later in the day!

Such a beautiful bird, providing you never have to hear them calling, when you really want to go to sleep.  By day, just wonderful.  Well done Helen.
