The mysteries of feline diplomacy

Hiding behind the honeysuckle

Living in a road with almost as many feline residents as human ones it's endlessly fascinating to watch their interactions. Young Stanley has made friends with some of the other local cats, to the extent where he has on occasion even brought one of them home for a sleepover! Lucy, on the other hand, is much more solitary and prefers to chase the other cats out of her territory. She gives Stanley a little more leeway, batting him around the ears with a paw before allowing him to sit in her garden. This morning he sneaked in and stole Lucy's favourite hiding spot behind the honeysuckle. When she spotted him there was the obligatory exchange of hissing before she let him be and settled on the lawn to watch Adam, our next door neighbour picking blackberries on the other side of the fence. Lucy's approach might not be a traditional approach to diplomacy but it seems to work for her and Stanley so who am I to criticise?!

On the contrary, sounds a lot like politicians I know! Beautiful eyes these cats have, full of mystery.

These two are beautiful. I always enjoy outdoor cat photos because my kitty stays indoors.
