I began the long drive back home this morning amid snow flurries. The South Downs had a modest coating of snow so I stopped on Houghton Hill to take a quick panorama across the landscape. By one o’clock I was ready for a break and Rainham Marshes provided somewhere I could enjoy a spot of lunch with a view over the wetlands. Before ordering my food I braved the chill wind to take another panorama, under similarly flat light to the weather on Houghton Hill. However, by the time I’d finished eating the sun had emerged from behind the clouds, so I dashed outside again to recreate the scene under altogether more photogenic light before continuing my journey.
