My Dad and I visited an auction today, albeit one aimed at a rather niche market. Our destination was a village outside Leicester, where a massive selection of tools was being sold off, most of them for working with wood.
I happily spent some time nosing around the various lots, taking pictures, while my Dad browsed with some potential purchases in mind. I commented to him that this must be ‘wood working geek heaven’ and, while my Dad agreed, one of the other browsers shot me a disapproving look!
I also spent a little time photographing some of the characters and the auction itself. The sales came thick and fast, with around 100 completed auctions every hour. Compared to high powered art auctions from places like Sotheby’s I’ve seen on television it came as something of shock when most of the items sold in just a matter of seconds!
