A moment in time

During a brief stop for lunch in Down Market today my eye was drawn to the crisp white clock tower in the market place. It was presented to the town by local businessman James Scott in 1878 at a cost of £450 and has had pride of place here ever since. It looked very sharp against the deep blue sky and it just seemed to shout ‘black and white’ to me!

Downham Market, not as I remember it from 40 years ago, but still charming. The Downham Cafe is good and quick for a sarnie or easy lunch.
