The ends of the day

My photographic opportunities came at either end of today. I arrived at work this morning, with a thick mist shrouding the trees. I didn’t have long, but there was just time to grab a quick photo of the grand oak tree near the estate office.

By the end of my shift, the mist had long since burned off and the sun was once again dropping lower, towards the horizon, creating long shadows. Taking a stroll across Takeley Hill, I sought out trees which were dramatically illuminated, with a monochrome treatment in mind from the start.
