As I finished my morning’s work at Hatfield Forest today there was plenty of action going in the education yard. One of the lime trees has grown so big it’s now in danger of damaging the nearby toilet block, so sadly it has to be felled. In such an enclosed area a straightforward felling isn’t practical. Instead two of our staff were high up in the tree, removing large branches, in preparation for the trunk being cut down later. They made it look so easy, swinging at great height, while manhandling chainsaws – definitely a job requiring a good head for heights!
