For the last few weeks the pair of swans at Hatfield Forest have been sitting on their nest, out of harm’s reach on the island in the decoy lake. This week they’ve emerged with four adorable fluffy cygnets and I just had to catch some photos of them before they grow up and lose that cute factor.
It didn’t take me long to track them down, hanging out near the old boat jetty. Initially they hid by the bank, some way from me, but with a little patience they emerged. Gradually Mum and Dad and their four little ones swam towards me and I was able to photograph them. Here’s hoping they survive all the challenges ahead of them and grow up into beautiful swans.
