A lush sea of green

After a day in the city yesterday I got back to nature this morning, with a stroll through Hatfield Forest. The purpose of my walk was to finalise some shooting locations for my next workshop there, but it was a delightful way to start the working day. Walking a couple of miles along the lush, green rides I barely saw another human, but heard endless birdsong from long tailed tits, buzzards, goldfinches and wrens.

Towards the end of my walk I found some very prickly but colourful thistles, which were attracting the attention of numerous hoverflies. My focus was catching the insects feeding on the flowers, but I struck lucky when I caught an action shot of one coming in to land!

Beautiful set, but #3 and#4 are my favorites.  Well done Helen.

Hi Helen,  This is a beautiful series.  I love all of your photos.  However No. 3 and 5 stand out.  No. 3 because it is mysterious. The leading line deep into the misty forest is captivating smile   No. 5...  I like the symmetrical touch.  Shimmery leaves in the top left hand corner and the same in the bottom right hand corner.  Very cleaver!  Love it grinning
