Waking up slowly

I'm not sure if bees preen themselves, but this one was definitely making an effort to clear away some of the early morning dew

I took another stroll before breakfast today, once again armed with my macro lens. On a flower head in the walled garden I found a bee, starting the day in a leisurely way. I spent about twenty minutes watching and photographing this one bee, as it tidied itself up and tucked into a little breakfast. Photographing creatures this small at such close quarters isn’t a precise science, especially when it’s a little breezy. I must have taken a hundred or more pictures of this tiny little beast, but I couldn’t have thought of a better way to start my day.

I love the details in this series. How do you like the 60mm Macro lens?
