Growing up so fast

Three months ago our pair of swans at Hatfield Forest had recently become parents to some cute bundles of fluff. Today I caught up with them again as they sat preening by the lake and they’ve grown so much. Accompanied by one of their parents, they allowed me to get quite close without any hissing and I was able to take plenty of photos as they relaxed in the sunshine.

After a few minutes we were joined by one of the fishermen, who’s evidently been building up a relationship with them over the summer. One of the youngsters happily took some fishing bait from his fingers and it was touching to see such trust.
