Thrills and spills

After a busy morning on track with Morris and some more photography around the paddocks we strolled down to Madgwick again this afternoon to watch some more of the track action. First up was the RAC TT Celebration race, for GT cars from the 1960s.

After this came part two of the St Mary’s Trophy. As we’d hoped, this round was much more exciting and there was plenty of overtaking. Several of the drivers also chose our corner to go off the track, creating some photographic excitement too. Although this caused a few dents to cars and drivers’ pride, I’m pleased to say no one was injured.

I don't think this Morris Minor was meant to be going backwards!

I'm pretty certain this Jaguar didn't start the race with such a dented grill!

Our afternoon finished with the Whitsun Trophy, for V8 sports prototypes. Once again there was some close mid-field racing, although former F1 driver Karun Chandhok grabbed the lead at the start and doggedly held on to it until the chequered flag.

The race cars may have been V8s, but the safety car was a Mini
