A walk in the woods with a portrait lens

Having recently had the Rolleiflex serviced I took it out for a spin in our local woods this afternoon to run a roll of film through it for comparison with my first batch of photos. It’ll be a few days before I get the developed negatives back, so I also took the opportunity to get started on month 2 of my prime lens project.

My chosen lens for December is my 42.5mm f1.7. At a full frame equivalent of 85mm it’s what is traditionally considered a portrait lens. I rarely take portraits (although I may give that a go this month) but I use this lens for many other subjects.

Today I found plenty of subjects, from colourful leaves to fungi and more distant shots of trees. To capture wider vistas with this lens requires use of one’s feet to step back a few paces, but a little exercise never did anyone any harm!
