With a few hours to spare before I started my course today I took a gentle drive along the Somerset coast, taking photos when I stopped. Just before lunch I stopped at Blue Anchor, to photograph the beach with my pinhole camera and the historic railway station with my new Olympus XA. While I was there I grabbed a shot with my digital camera too and then headed to the seafront café for fish and chips.
After lunch my destination was the village of Watchet. Here I meandered around the harbour, this time shooting with my 75mm lens – my chosen focal length for February for my Prime Lens Project. I know I’m starting a day early, but I doubt I’ll get much photography time for the rest of the weekend. Shooting at 75mm rather than 15 takes a little readjustment. The longer focal length brings new subjects within reach and I’m looking forward to playing with the way it compresses a scene, apparently bringing elements closer together.
