I returned to Hatfield Forest today, in the vain hope of seeing some hawfinches. Predictably they were nowhere to be seen, so instead I spent half hour wandering beneath the ancient hornbeams, searching for other birdlife. Eventually I discovered two great tits rummaging in the undergrowth and I managed to photograph this one through the leaf litter.
