For the official first day of summer I returned to the Aubrey Buxton Nature Reserve. Sometimes travelling light, as I did today with just a camera and single lens works well. It removes choices, so you just have to focus on using the focal length you’ve selected.
Today this strategy worked perfectly, right up to the point where I found lots of vivid blue dragonflies by the top pond. Suddenly an 85mm lens wasn’t enough! That wasn’t going to stop me trying to photograph them and I caught a single fleeting shot as one of them paused on a nearby fern, albeit small in the frame. At least I know what sort of lens I need to take with me for my visit!
