Window light

My weekly visit to Audley End started under leaden skies this morning. I’d already decided to go digital today, using just one prime lens and the rain persuaded me to head indoors to the 1880s service wing, which contains the kitchens, dairy and laundry. I’ve photographed in here many times before, so I tried to find a different angle on familiar scenes. With cloudy skies the light was wonderfully soft and I found myself being drawn to the gentle gradation of light and shade around the windows.
