Watching the world go by

As Kevin and I took our walk this afternoon the local birds seemed to be on sentry duty, watching the world go by. We have lots of sparrows in the village, who perch atop the hedges, diving back among the leaves when they feel threatened.

Elsewhere I spotted a lone bluetit sitting high on a blackthorn tree, while a wood pigeon and starling had chosen to rest on a television aerial to survey their territory.
