1/21/2017 - Fists of Fury

Here we see a couple of students performing one of their katas (a sequence of movements) at my kids' Saturday morning karate class. The lighting in their dojo is not photographer-friendly, so even shooting wide open at f/2.8 and ISO 3200, I could only manage 1/125th for the shutter speed. I love that my camera has outstanding image stabilization built into the body, so hand-holding my 300mm (equivalent) lens is no problem at this speed, but I needed to concentrate on the pauses between moves to eliminate any action-blur.

Very cool photo... the black&white helps to add the suggestion that they have been outside in the dirt actually doing fighting.. very interesting
