Cottage Country

A cottage in North America is quite a different animal than a cottage in Britain. Here we expect a rustic cottage situated beside a lake, what the Francophones call a 'chalet'. The other day I was invited to a cottage on the Big Rideau Lake but rather than photographing the standard boat and swimming area I headed to a swampy inlet behind the cottage.

Glad to hear you were not overcome by mosquitoes, etc! Did you see any water snakes? Nice shots!

Like #5 in black and white, Abigail!
I always liked the marshes (except for the mosquitoes), so much life in them!

Yes, Nature in the back of the cottage was so much more interesting than the full on view of the lake.
