Yesterday a friend and I took a run up into the Pontiac to see the villages and farms. Our destination was Portage-du-Fort where a seminar was being held for local artists on applying for an arts grant. Along the way we found numerous photo ops and had a wonderful time once the sun came out.

Portage-du-Fort, Québec is a small charming village with many heritage stone homes.

We met some lovely people in Portage including this cashier in the local corner store who was very friendly and welcoming. Beer in Québec is considerably cheaper than in Ontario and this store is barely a ten-minute drive from several Ontario communities on the other side of the Ottawa River. As a result this store has to be the most successful corner store I have ever seen.
