72: Rationing

My higher ability students have been doing a project on food in history - so we have been learning about rationing during World War 2.

Believe it or not, this is a week's rations. From left to right: 8 oz of sugar; 3 oz sweets (we used fudge); 2 oz butter; 2 oz cheese; 1 egg; 2 oz tea; 4 oz bacon.

Not included in the picture is 3 pints of milk, 1s2d worth of meat, and 1lb of jam every two months.
