During my 10 years long career I've been involved in the production process.
For the first time, I worked for ABF-Mosty - I was responsible for the preparation of technical drawings for production of expansion joints and bridge bearings. Later, I worked for Nova - I was preparing production drawings of elevation supporting systems I have previously designed.
Technical documentation for production is a different type of design. Making drawing, you need to be sure that the person in the workshop will understand your point and produce proper element. Very often workers are not too much qualified and cannot read technical drawings, so you must be sure that drawing shows everything that is needed, but also that is very easy to read and understand.
It was a different dimension of design for me, but I liked it because I was involved in the production, checking the quality if the element meets the standards and designed dimensions. I could see how the product is growing. It was a big satisfaction for me seeing a massive, 25 meters long, seven modular expansion joint produced based on my drawings!
