Koko Head Crater - Hawaii's StairMaster

by Julia And Sean Hatch June. 12, 2017 200 views

Ever since moving to Hawaii, I've always wanted to do the Koko Head Crater Steps, mainly just to say I did them and I heard the view was amazing. I knew it would be a bit intense but boy did I underestimate how bad it would be. After a lot of huffing, puffing, and lots of breaks, we made it to the top of the 1048ish "steps" and over 1000 ft in elevation gain. What awarded us was a ton of cloud coverage which wasn't as satisfying as I hoped it would be. Luckily after a bit of waiting (catching my breath and resting my legs) the clouds cleared enough for us to get some shots and the great view I was originally hoping to see when I started this hike. -Julia

Going down wasn't easy either

Rain started by the time we got back down to the bottom of the trail, but it was nice to look back on what we just accomplished...even if you can't even see the top anymore. :)
