78/365 ~ Macro Monday: Romanesco

by Heidi Egerman March. 19, 2018 367 views

I saw this wonderful specimen of Romanesco Broccoli in the grocery store today and decided that it would be my subject matter for most of this week as I explore macro photography with a variation of techniques. Hopefully, this will last for at least a few days as I study it to find the best option for a great macro photograph.

These two image were shot with my 50mm prime lens. I did try using my extension tubes and my Tamron 2x tele-converter, which I usually have pretty good luck with. Those images didn't turn out so well so I will need more practice and patience. The focus has been the most difficult. I want to get even closer and have a very sharp image. Stay tuned for more images this week.

This stuff actually looks better than it tastes and I'm a broccoli lover. I expected it to taste incredible, but it was mediocre.

I'll be working my way through an e-book on Macro Photography this week called Close Up & Macro Photography, by Ed Verosky. Check out the link if you are interested. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks.
It's starting to show some age. I may be buying another head before the week and this study is over.

Sometimes I get the "models" from my friend to eat: As long it isn't smelly like a three day old fisch in sun it will have a nice recovering soup bath! smile

I think romanesco is so photogenic and tasty. Did you try baking it slightly oiled and salted at 305 for 15 min?

Oh, what have I done! blush . I just posted my second days image and I'm wondering how I can keep this up. I needed a good challenge though. I felt like I was getting lazy and not challenging myself to learn new techniques.
