Strawberries are probably my favorite crop in the garden. Because of this, I nurtured each plant, adding compost, trimming back old blossoms and leaves and watering with care on a very regular basis. All this work probably wasn't necessary, but I do what I can to have a bowl (and freezer) full of home grown berries.
Even though these are the Everbearing variety, I started to wonder if I would get another crop due to our extreme heat. All of my other garden chores took a back seat to the strawberry harvest this morning which I started early, shortly after the sun came up around 6:28 a.m.
