“Few people know how to take a walk. The qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence and nothing too much.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today it is 54 days until I depart for my Camino de Santiago adventure in Spain. I will be traveling from Leon to Camino de Santiago which is just under half of the entire French Way. This distance is 300 km, which is about 186 miles. During my trip, I will average between 12 - 15 miles a day. I will start on October 10th or 11th and arrive in Santiago de Compostela around the 29th of October.
This week I've been walking an average of 9 miles a day, which I've been working up to. I've decided to wear these Altra Lone Peak trail shoes. There was no 'break in' period and they were comfortable from the start - no blisters or sore feet of any kind. They have a wide toe box for my wide foot and something called 'zero drop', which seems to have helped my hips adjust to these long walks. My shoes will seem 'old' by the time I leave.
