It is the peak of the season as far as melons go. We’re harvesting 8-12 melons a day and nobody leaves the house after a visit without at least 2. We continue to eat more than our fill daily.
This is a casaba melon, which a variety of muskmelon. It is ripe when it turns a golden yellow. We just picked the first one yesterday. The creamy pale green to white flesh is mildly sweet with nuances of Asian pear and cucumber. It is delicious.
