250/365 ~ Melon Mania

by Heidi Egerman September. 07, 2018 565 views

It is the peak of the season as far as melons go. We’re harvesting 8-12 melons a day and nobody leaves the house after a visit without at least 2. We continue to eat more than our fill daily.

This is a casaba melon, which a variety of muskmelon. It is ripe when it turns a golden yellow. We just picked the first one yesterday. The creamy pale green to white flesh is mildly sweet with nuances of Asian pear and cucumber. It is delicious.

A day’s harvest.

A day’s harvest.

Thanks Andi.  Yes, he is a funny man with a great sense of humor and he is so much more social than I am. I require more solitude and less conversation. He's a talker.

And the tray is his handiwork as well. Thanks for checking in.

Thanks Jay. I love this season too. Wish I could give you all melons. I certainly have enough. I harvested 12 more today.

Thanks, Heidi! I'm pretty well stocked now, myself. We have a farm store that raises their own organic produce, that I visit almost everyday, to get  the latest & best they have to offer.
ENJOY!!!
