Poppy Premiere

I feel like a bear that has just come out of hibernation after a long cold winter. My attitude and motivation are much improved as the poppies start to make their debut.

As a few of you have mentioned, poppies are rather difficult to photograph. I found this to be true but I decided not to let that stop me from trying. There is something about that red-orange color that seems to lack contrast and form in the photographed image. You must have to have the light right at a certain time of day to get it to shine.

I did get a few decent macro shots of the center of this flower with the Olympus TG-4. I'm determined to get a good shot of the whole flower. They are so impressive and sort lived here in Idaho. In the meantime, here is what I have.

Good shots, indeed, Heidi. We have them for a few months (although now it's high season), so I should get some more occassions to shoot them (if you make it a challenge for yourself, I make it a challenge for myself smile ). They do have a special meaning in Flemish history, so I have al the more reason: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Flanders_Fields
