Orchid Dahlia ~ Verrone’s Obsidia

by Heidi Egerman August. 11, 2019 465 views

I did not know there was such a flower as an orchid dahlia. This orchid tuber was in a bag of 6 tubers called Purple Rain Mixed. There was not a description of the contents of the bag. I simply expected purple dahlias. To my surprise this one appeared. After a little online research I discovered the orchid dahlia varieties.

This dahlia is called Verrone’s Obsidian. The bush is loaded with blooms but has been a bit challenging to photograph.

Beautiful It reminds me of both an orchid and a sunflower for some reason.

Thanks Russell.
Yes, it is a very unique flower and doesn't look like any of my other dahlias.
