The meaning of 'friend'

by Heike March. 01, 2017 2830 views

Once in summer 2013 I left the balcony door open and went down to the laundry room while taking the washing off the line.  Coming back into my appartement, I noticed a movement in the living room.

my curious visitor

This curious black and white cat was inspecting my rooms. (One side of my balcony is nearly on the groundfloor, so easily to reach for cats.)

I love all animals. but this cat really slipped right into my heart. She wasn't shy or afraid. She came to me, when I offered her my hand and started to purr instantly when I stroke her fur. Since that day (already over three years now), she comes every day for a visit. Sometimes, when I get home from work in the evening, she is already waiting for me on the footpath, or the balcony. When she visits me, she is showing me clearly, whether she wants to be entertained - what means haunting and catching the cat angle - or cuddled - what means be petted until she sinks into some cozy sleep.

Sometimes it seems, she only wants my company. So, while her owners might think, she is out for exciting mice-hauntings, she - in reality - chills out on my sofa....

Sorry, what do you mean by: This box belongs in the trash?

I know, where she is living (right on the other side of the street) and I'm sure that she is treated well there, but I never spoke to her owners about her continously visits, because I'am a bit afraid, that they maybe don't like it...

I call her Miou - because she always greets me with a  little 'Miouuu...' when she enters the appartement. I enjoy the time she is around very much and hopefully this will continue for long, because she really gives me a lot of fun and pleasure.

I'm well hidden. nobody can see me...

I found this definition of the word  'friend': A friend is your buddy, your pal, your amigo, your comrade. Someone you know, someone you trust and like enough to hang out with on a regular basis.

Without a question : We both are friends !

What a nice cat! My aunt has what she calls a half-dog. After years of owning dogs, she finally wanted no more, but a stray came into the neighborhood, the across-the-fence neighbor feeds and homes the dog, and my aunt pays the dog's veterinary bills. He comes over daily for a treat from my aunt and then goes home.

Thanks Sarah ! I think it is a great idea to have a 'half' animal. grinning When the one person can't care about the animal, the other one can do it.  That's good for the animal and very helpful for the ones who cares about it. Cool start-up idea : Animal-sharing. smile

Love this post! My cat "mysteriously" disappears sometimes when my neighbour's door is open. Especially in summer, when she can walk in and out at will, she's more of a time-share cat :)

Thanks for your nice comment !  I think, your cat knows more people in your neighbourhood than you !smile
Look at this link, where gps trackers reveal the movement of cats. smile cat
