The pediment of "La Madeleine" Church in Paris 8e, the sculptor Philippe Joseph Henri Lemaire's work, representative: THE LAST JUDGMENT , was realized in 1833. "La Madeleine" was designed by Napoleon I as a Greek temple dedicated to the glory of his Great Army in 1806 and became a church in 1845. Under the pediment, the Latin inscription "D.O.M. SVB. INVOC. S. M. MAGDALENAE (“Domino Optimo Maximo sub invocatione Sanctae Mariae Magdalenae”) means “to the very good and great God, under the invocation of St Mary Magdalenae”. ====== I usually enjoy visiting and revisiting Paris in August. It’s the quietest month of the year, Paris becomes a village! This picture is one of my shots of this day.
