INDIA: Island of Hope Orphanage

by Mircea Samoila February. 27, 2010 4627 views

We visited this orphanage on Saturday, 27th February. I've never seen a place with happier children and with a better atmosphere. The two ladies in charge, Thangam and Josephine, are like angels: all the children love them. Thangam told me: ‘this is not our job, it’s our life'.
The children are lively and extremely talented.
All of it because of Peter Raj, the director of the orphanage, who is also heavily involved in micro-finance projects and a well-known human rights activist (in fact, he was arrested in Italy because he spread leaflets in the Vatican about the abuses of the Catholic priests in India) The visit was truly inspirational.
