Supermarket Flowers

by Hilary Halliwell July. 02, 2020 260 views

What to do on a rainy afternoon? A bunch of supermarket flowers provided some inspiration. A flashlight, macro lens, and tripod turned my back porch into a make-shift studio. The sound of rain on my roof and distant rumbling thunder was the perfect soundtrack.

For some of these images, I experimented with wide apertures to create an abstract soft focus effect.

Really pretty!!

Every time I go to the supermarket I am tempted to buy flowers, then I talk myself out of it because I am known to have a black black thumb and killing flowers within days ( before photographing) seems to be a given. But....yesterday one of my photographer friends posted something new he was trying, with flowers. So your post made me think of him and his experiments (which he shared with me). I though I would share with you because your captures fit the category. Harold Davis is the "creator" of this type of photography

and he has a series of You tube videos

I've decided to invest in one of those LED tablets....because you know as a photographer, we can never have enough light smile

Thank you for sharing Harold's work.  His images are spectacular! Got me thinking about buying a light box too!
