On a recent photo walk, I decided to focus on textures only—a departure from my usual "wildcard" method of going out with my camera and just shooting whatever catches my eye. I have found that this method does not always yield the best results, perhaps because I am not focused on a specific subject, style, or theme.
This time, however, I decided to incorporate more discipline into my photo walk by choosing a specific theme and sticking with it.
The challenge: find man-made textures and create an interesting group of photos. After choosing a location and walking around, first without my camera, I decided upon my final theme:
