Golden Hour Flowers

The light was beautiful last night. But my camera was not within reach and I was afraid the light would change, and I's miss the shot. So I grabbed my phone instead of my camera. I shot this with my phone's "Live Focus" setting. In a side-by-side comparison, my DSLR will win every time, but I do like the results. No true bokeh here, but enough blur to make it interesting.

I have been in photography clubs, and I run one now in my community. We do get hung up on equipment at times. Having the right equipment for the task at hand is important, but sometimes, the best camera really is the one that is within reach at that particular moment.

Photography clubs the world over have camera buffs and photo buffs. The camera buffs usually have little to show for their latest tech, while the photo buffs tend to take more pics with last years (or the year before's) model. I'm with you, whatever is to hand. I haven't sold much work but my best ever sale was a pic on Getty which I took with my point and shoot compact.
