The world is full of glorious architecture such as Michelangelo's dome.
As an art teacher I teach my students about architecture as an art form, and discuss architecture such as the Parthenon, Gothic Cathedrals and contemporary architects such as Frank Gehry.
They learn how men built churches for religious reasons..... in other countries
And in nearby Charleston
They learn how architects design buildings different for the different purposes they serve.
We discuss how when steel was used buildings grew taller and taller...
I think my students understand how there are beautiful buildings around the world.
But for me...... there is one building more beautiful than all. It is our barn back home. The place I spent hours "trying" to help my Dad milk the cows, where I climbed the hay bales and sang songs to my kittens and calf.
The paint is peeling now, long neglected and quiet, sadly missing the life it once had.
But still for me it is a beauty filled with memories of what once was.......... memories of my hard working farmer dad, memories of cows and corn, green grass and blue skies........
