Conclusion: Enjoy the beach through Photo Blog posts until summer, though the sand shot made it not a complete wasted time.

I did enjoy my hour lunch today and am very glad I went to the beach.

OBJECTIVE: To post a nice wintery beach set.
After seeing all these fabulous beach sets lately on PB I decided to go to a beach on my lunch and take shots of a beach in winter. I happen to be near a beach that I have many fond memories of from my childhood, so I headed there thinking I'd capture the old merry-go-round that I learned what centrifugal force was and the dangers of it when I was 7. I also remember great big shade trees that ran along the beach and thought that would make a nice shot. Another shot I wanted was where the ice ends and the water starts, I love how dark the water looks compared to its frozen counterpart. And of course I wanted a sand shot what beach set doesn't have that?

Here is my lovely winter beach set

This is whats left of the playground I remember, notice no merry-go-round?
Didn't get that shot

I did assume the shade trees would just be the skeleton since it was winter but still beautiful.

Not much shade this year
Didn't get that shot

So our weather has been warm cold warm cold all winter, last week was plus 10 in my town 30 minutes away so I thought I would definately get the ice meets water shot.

Can you see the dark water? Nope lake is frozen all the way across
Didn't get that shot

While walking the beach to find the sand shot and enjoying the brisk -10 before the wind chill factor (which it was windy on the lake) I hear the odd crunch under my shoes. Thinking its just leaves under the snow I continue until I kick something hard in the snow.

Upon looking down I realize that wasn't leaves I was walking on

And lastly….

I found sand.

Love the set!!... My two favorite things...Snow and the Beach...and I'm an odd person I prefer the beach when it is cooler outside instead of hot! Love the last shot! It was worth the trip!

I'm with Marjorie! I kept refreshing and refreshing and REFRESHING the page. lol
They're great shots even if they may not be the shots you wanted and I'm so happy for you that you finally found sand. Guess what?! It's supposed to snow on the beach here tonight. It almost never does. The forecast said, "Confidence is increasing that snow will fall at sea level and on beaches"
