Chicago - in 300 images

A few weeks ago, some friends and I took a day trip to Chicago during which I took a little over 300 shots in just seven hours, the equivalent of 12-13 rolls of film. Digital photography has made it so much easier to take risks but I often wonder at what cost.

Years ago, when I was shooting with film, I would come back 12-13 rolls of exposed film. With the amount of storage available, I rarely fill up a memory card. It has happened, but only once.

I often vow to be more thoughtful in my photography, to conserve those pixels the way I conserved film. But then I'm in a moment or a place where a smorgasbord of photographic opportunity presents itself and I find myself just clicking away. Does this happen to you?

In this series, I couldn't keep the lens off the combination of old and new...

I have never been able to leave Chicago with less than 300. The city is definitely eye candy. Very nice images.

I'm a big Chicago fan too! There is so much for the photographer, not just the buildings - thanks for sharing!

Sylvia- I can relate to your "click away" statements. Back in the day of "film" I would never take as many shots. I dont think I personally would ever want to go back as the options are so much greater. Your images are inspirational!
