Have you ever done something crazy in your entire life? (Aside from being crazy in love ||||,joke lang)

Yes for me, when I gave my skeptic YES to friends to hike Mt. Daraitan- that was CRAZY YES. By the way, that's me, the one who tried to be brave-looking, raised both hands and looking super comfy sitting on the rocks.

I say it's a crazy decision I made when I've decided to join my churchmates on their hike (crazy in a good way ). They call their group "Akyateros" which is translated in english as "Climbers" haha. They are group of hikers - Manilenos, Visayans and Mindanaoans, who aim to explore God's beautiful creation and make hiking so fun by cracking jokes, effortlessly climbing on rocks and going through muds (feels like they've been doing this for so long). By the way, my brother is a member of the group.

Me and my brother, Ivan.

Me and my brother, Ivan.

It was weird, my heart beat faster, my knees shook, my hands sweated in an airconditioned room because truth is, I have great fear of heights (I look gigantic but I fear "heights", how ironic), & that is one thing I am ashamed of myself.

Iba talaga ung pakiramdam.

It is so weird just thinking of the trail and of the big rocks. I already imagined the scenario and the place by looking it up using Mr. Google. My body got numbed at that moment, I thought my wandering wandering feet will face a challenge, out of my comfort zone, out of the things I love to do.

"Itapon mo na ako sa dagat, wag lang matataas na lugar." (Kidding aside)

Funny how it seems like it is a matter of life and death for me, but this is the feeling of having "fear" or phobias to others. They are silent killers. We allow them to haunt us, to live in us, to define us and to hold us.

But here's the thing, God made me realized, fear is not part of my being. He didn't create fear but rather he created "Faith". Then Faith becomes power, power from the Lord, that we can do everything.

2 Timothy 1:7New King James Version (NKJV)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

So here I am courageously dwelling on his words. Let's start the adventure!

Akyateros: Me, brother Ivan, Grace, Viclee, Jeriel, Bona, Jessel, Kuya Pegiel, Twinkle, Natz and Kuya Jetro

Basic Environmental guide:

Whatever we brought going up, we will bring it with us as we go down. Love Mother Earth! Maintain cleanliness.

Be a responsible hiker! Hindi puro aura!

For this adventure, I didn't bring my camera. I just want to focus on this suffering, joke lang. Big thanks to (koya), my brother for taking photos using his #OPPOF1S.

On this photo, we were heading to Station 1. Take Note, there were 8 stations to reach summit! Ganbatte Ne! Hahahahaha

We almost kissed the ground, on our first 15 to 20 minutes. Kamusta naman yun??

This is such an overwhelming experience to see these clouds, next to my first airplane ride experience going to Iloilo Youth convention last 2014.

Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?

Sa wakas, malapit na kami! Mapapatanong ka ng "are we there yet?"

Kuyaaaaaaaaa! 30 minutes na lang daw! After 30 minutes, parang sa dulo ng walang hanggan ang ganap namin.

But still I Believed! Malapit na! Sana siya rin.

Finally!

While looking at her, I've realized that I have conquered my fear. I've reached the top without looking behind. Just have to take a leap of faith and I will overcome!

It took us 2 hours to reach the summit. The question is:

Mga kuya, paano po bumaba?

Mga kuya, paano po bumaba?

May zipline po ba pababa? Hahahaha

Success!

Success!

Nakababa naman kami ng matiwasay. Galit galit na! Hahaha. Around 1pm, we've reached the goal, makatapak sa patag. Konting pahinga at panibagong adventure naman.

What a beautiful sight

What a beautiful sight

Tinipak River was so refreshing to see. Water was raging but there's a sense of tranquility.

Ice Bucket challenge ba kamo?

Ice Bucket challenge ba kamo?

Tinipak cave was amazing. If you have fear in the dark and want to overcome that, you must visit this mysterious beauty. Take a plunge into this freezing river? (Not so sure if this is a river, basta anyong tubig sya, Annyeong hahaha).

It was a tiring day. Felt like my spirit was left on top! But I thank the Lord for his protection, for his glory shown through his creation and for his wonderful people who invited me to this adventure. This would be my first and last hike? Still a mind-bugging question. Hahaha

"Do the thing your fear to do and keep on doing it. That is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear". - Dale Carnegie.  That's a good one. Thanks for sharing! +1 smile

Worthwhile reading habang ngcocoffee. 😊 Every feels na naramdaman q the first time I climbed too ay bumalik. Ung nkktakot, nkkkaba, nkkahingal pero di halata sa pic. And that litanya "may zip line ba pababa?" It's a tie! 😂

Congrats Mayi! It's a cool way of sharing who you are and who are God is! The phrase na ngrhema saken dito is that, "God didn't created fear, only faith". More stories, my dear sister. ☺❤
