Two weeks from today I will be in Dublin Ireland, the first stop on my trip around Europe. It's weird to think that at the beginning of the year three months seemed like three years, then I blinked and it's around the corner. Time has a funny way of doing that to you. The anticipation of an event stretches the minutes, days, months till is feels like you can't bear it. Then, suddenly, it jumps out at you from behind a curtain and it's over. Pretty sure all of us have experienced this phenomenon in regards to Christmas as a child. Time has a funny way of stretching and contracting. Microwave minutes seem to last hours, but when I get sucked into a good book time disappears. It reminds me of the TV show Dr Who; the Doctor says that time is just a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. The physical seconds and minutes plod on as they always have, mathematically the same distance apart, but my perception of them ebbs and flows. At the beginning of my trip it will feel like I have all the time in the world, but, before I know it, I will be home again with only memories, pictures, and an inked up journal to prove it really happened. Even now two weeks feels like forever, 330 hours, roughly 20,000 minutes before I change my life. It feels like forever, but one night I'm going to lay my head on my pillow and wake up on a plane bound for unknown adventures.
